Yesterday I brought along my family to Coquitlam Centre to join in on lululemon’s Salutation Nation event. Salutation Nation is an annual international day of yoga that is led by local lululemon yoga ambassadors. It’s free to practice and open to all levels (even a super-newbie like myself). I was totally nervous because my first experience with yoga years ago didn’t make me want to come back as I felt lost and totally alone as no one came to offer some instruction or support. I was hoping that this experience would be a more positive one and I’m so glad to say that it was.
This time around I felt I was a part of a community. The ladies at lululemon were quick to help me out and point me in the right direction when was looking lost out there. A huge thanks to lululemon educators Mariah Beamin and Taegan Morgan who also helped to look after my little girls who were very to eager to do downward dog but were quickly be distracted with all the free cups and coconut water juice boxes. Kula yoga instructor extraordinaire Andrew Colyn led an inspirational class and totally helped me out too. He’s really amazing at what he does and if you haven’t taken a class from him then you’re missing out.
The event was a huge success and turned my view of this practice around for the better.
Here are some pictures from the day courtesy of Olga Kundilivski from Happy Moments and my iPhone. Please comment if you were lucky enough to experience Salutation Nation. Thanks 🙂
